Today i turned on my computer and noticed that the battery icon in the task bar automatically disappeared. i did check the display settings of the taskbar and it was set to show there. What can be the issue?

Confirm it's configured to display.

  1. Right Click the Taskbar and Click Properties
  2. Taskbar Tab, Click Customize under Notification Area
  3. Power Icon -- Choose Show Icon and Notifications.

Do you have your notification area setup like this with the icon enabled?
